How to use “Combine Files to PDF”

  1. Drop all your files at once: PDF, Word (.docx), PowerPoint (.pptx), ODT, ODP, JPG, PNG or WebP images and text (.txt or .md).
  2. Sort them with the arrows in the list: the combined PDF follows that order.
  3. Set orientation, page size, margins and quality, and keep “Combine all files into a single PDF” ticked.
  4. Click “Convert to PDF” and download the combined PDF, or each PDF separately in a ZIP.

Many formats, one workflow

Each file is converted with its own engine (Word, PowerPoint, OpenDocument, image or text) and, with “Combine” ticked, all the resulting PDFs are merged into one following the list order. Any PDFs you add are included as they are. Use it to put together an application, a dossier or a case file from pieces in different formats without hopping between tools. If all your files are already PDFs, “Merge PDF” is more direct: it is built for PDFs only and keeps their bookmarks, internal links and forms.

Are my files uploaded?

No. ShiftAny Files processes your files directly on your device: this tool runs in your browser and never sends your files to any server.

Frequently asked questions

How is this different from “Merge PDF”?

“Merge PDF” only accepts PDFs and combines them keeping bookmarks, links and forms. “Combine Files to PDF” also accepts Word, PowerPoint, OpenDocument, images and text: it converts each file first and then merges everything into a single document.

Which formats are supported?

PDF, Word (.docx), PowerPoint (.pptx), LibreOffice and OpenOffice (.odt and .odp), JPG, PNG and WebP images, and plain text or Markdown (.txt and .md).

How do such different formats fit in one PDF?

With “Page size”: A4 gives the whole document the same size, “Original” keeps the size of each image and presentation, and “16:9 Slide” fits pages to the presentation format. Text documents are always laid out on A4.

Can I get each file as a separate PDF?

Yes. Untick “Combine all files into a single PDF” and download each PDF separately or all together in a ZIP.
